Our reflections. (A video for my girls)
Posted in Videos | January 9th, 2010Dearest Ladies,
I have missed you!! (almost as much as how I am missing the ridiculously good looking black man in my life. Also commonly known as Toby, my furry 10 lb. four legged baby who is back in Michigan).
Any-who I have been a busy bee creating this video for you. Instead of writing a novel about the film, I want to simply show it to you in hopes that you will take out of it what is relevant to you. As opposed to trying to tell you what it’s “supposed to mean”.
But I want to give you two questions to think about…(Which just may have been rolling around in my head as well)
- What lies do we believe about ourselves?
- Who do we look at as our mirrors?
I would love to hear your thoughts on the film and what it brought up for you. Or perhaps it didn’t bring up an answer but rather a question. So feel free to put your comments below.
We can’t do it alone,
Abigail

so proud (tear)
Thanks Abigail. What a beautiful video. Questions that came up for me during the video are: It seems so common that two people love eachother, but still not feel loved by the other. Are we loving that person the way we would want to be loved or the way they need to be loved? Are we blaming our shortcomings on them? What are we expecting that we aren’t getting? Is it realistic to expect this from our significant other, since all of our needs will never be met from any one person/relationship? What expectations are healthy for a relationship? Is love enough?
Just ranting a bit. But maybe it’s enough to get a conversation going?
Dear Abigail,
What a moving and incredible movie. Not only was the message amazing but your talent is incredible. To any girls out there and to you—Never Doubt Your Talent, Compassion, Heart, Intelligence and Abilities. You are all a wonder to behold. Go for it girls!!! Go for it Abigail.
Love you,
Patti
Hi Abigail,
I just saw your movie. I can’t tell you how impressed I was with the message and the way that you expressed yourself. I think we all underestimate how brilliant our children are. I am glad that I was able to spend time on your web site today.
Love,
Paul
This was not only a wonderful piece of performance art, it an honest and touching message. It takes a brave person to put the kind of raw emotion and integrity into their work as you do Abby and to share so much of themselves with the world.
Thank you for reminding us of the treasure that we are just by being us!
And, on a personal note, thank you for reminding me that I have a man at home who loves me for me even if he doesn’t show it the way I want him to all of the time.
